This crypt burial system is constructed by excavating soil to a pre-determined depth. A series of drainage pipes are installed. These drain directly to a sump. Steel reinforced base slab and sidewalls are constructed. A thick, hard polycarbonate, heavy-duty liner is then installed into the box created to form crypt spaces each three deep. This system has been tested to withstand 28000 pounds. On top of each crypt space a concrete slab is installed. This cover has lift hooks welded into the steel grid within the concrete. Approximately two feet of soil is placed on top of the concrete cover and serves to support the growth of landscaping.
A limited pre construction offering is available at a discounted rate. The prices of the crypts are based on their location in each section. You will note that there are four sections each of similar design. Prospective purchasers may select a crypt in any location. Some crypts are already reserved. See also Layout.
For many years we have suffered from the effects of poorly maintained, horribly operated cemeteries. No where in Trinidad and Tobago did a cemetery exist that served to comfort us during a burial or was safe or clean for us to return and pay homage to the memory of our loved ones in comfort. As a people we are quite sophisticated, it is time that such growth is also reflected in the manner in which we treat our deceased.
Cemetery Management Company has created an unequalled master burial system. The efficient maintenance of the architecturally designed landscaping and grounds is vital to the upkeep of the quality of the grounds. As such an annual maintenance fee of $1200.00 is payable at the beginning of each year.
Exhumation fees are applicable in the event an owner requests an exhumation. These are charged on a per circumstance basis.
There are two primary reasons for the length of the lease. Research and our experience of 117 years has led us to conclude that the average family experiences a death once every eight to ten years. Further we observed that cemetery allotments were often abandoned in a similar period. In an effort to avoid the experience of abandonment and poor maintenance the system of a renewable lease was devised. This serves our belief that cemeteries are forever.
What happens if I do not renew my lease
If at the end of the lease period the owner does not renew the lease, the management of OGMG will exhume the contents of the crypt and have them cremated. The remains will be placed in the co-mingled section of our cremation garden.
When an identification crypt is purchased the buyer gets the crypt/s of choice if available and a marker, which states the crypt number and the surname of the purchaser. No annual maintenance fee is payable until 2006.
Purchasing a crypt is simple. See Purchasing.
During the pre-construction offer period we have provided an installment plan, which spreads payments over the construction period. Payments are accepted by Cheque, Credit Card or LINX. Arrangements are being finalized with two financial institutions to offer loans to qualifying applicants.
A full warranty for 30 years against defects of workmanship is offered to all purchasers.
The system we have adopted is most dignified and does not currently exist anywhere in the Caribbean.
In our endeavour to maintain the integrity of our professionally designed landscaping we allow plaques and shrubbery of a particular size and texture. You may select a plaque from any of the wide range we offer. No other shrubbery is allowed.
100% of your deposits are held and will be refunded at the rate of 6% per annum. However, this has been put in place only as an assurance to you. This project will be available for use early in 2006.
This is largely a matter of choice on the part of the purchaser. The options are: use another cemetery or use another cemetery and transfer the deceased to OGMG when it is open for business.
The laws of the land requires us to operate between the hours of 6.00 am to 6.00 p.m. We plan to operate between those hours Monday to Saturday remaining closed on Sundays and public holidays. However special arrangements can be effected should there be a request for service on any day that we are closed.
Often only the name of the purchaser may be on the records of a cemetery. In the event that person is not available, an alternate can authorize the crypt to be used. However in the absence of the purchaser for whatever reason if there is no alternate name listed no one else can authorize the opening until the purchaser is located or in the case of death the estate is probated. We strongly advise every purchaser to list at least two names of adult persons as alternates. Any alternate can authorize us to conduct any service of the cemetery. The alternates are of equal rank. We suggest that the ages of the alternates should be cross-generational.
If the crypt is full during the tenure of the lease the purchaser can select any of two options. It is strictly a matter of choice for the purchaser. The options available are: seal the crypt for the remainder of the period, or authorize an exhumation of an earliest encryptment. In the latter choice the remains are cremated and placed in our cremation garden. This service carries a cost to the purchaser.
The very special features of OGMG are the peaceful tropical landscaping, the gantry used to open and close the crypts, a completely dirt free operation, peaceful reflection grottos cremation gardens, a dancing water fountain, the specially designed air conditioned tent, audio system and seating at all encryptments, cremation gardens, and a multi seating golf cart to assist the infirmed.
Of very special interest is the fact that a microchip will be installed in the marker over the crypt. Onto this microchip we will upload the owner's information and the family history, eulogy, life story, personal messages the person may wish to state to the future and pictures of each deceased person encrypted therein. Obviously this Memoralization service option is at an additional cost
